Tennessee Grocers Education Foundation Scholarship Program
Eligibility Requirements
TGEF was founded in 1985 to support and promote education of students in the food industry in Tennessee. It helps deserving students, assists parents with college expenses and colleges benefit by receiving scholarship funds.
TGEF scholarships are available to students who are high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, and students who have a bachelors degree looking to get a master's or doctorate.
Applicants must be student employees who have been employed for at lease 6 months. The applicant or parent(s)/spouse of the applicant must still be employed by a TGCSA member company at the time the winners are selected.
Application Deadline: December 1, 2021, through February 28, 2022.
The Minority Teaching Fellows Program is intended to encourage talented minority Tennesseans to enter the teaching field in Tennessee. The award is for students who are pursing a teacher certification at an eligible Tennessee college or university.
The Tennessee Teaching Scholars Program is intended to encourage exemplary students to enter the teaching field in Tennessee. Participation is limited to college juniors, seniors, and post baccalaureate candidates admitted to a teacher education program in a Tennessee college or university.
To be eligible, the applicant must be a Tennessee resident and a U.S. citizen with a minimum 2.75 GPA if required for the teacher education program at their school of choice.
Must be enrolled full-time if undergraduate or at least half-time if a graduate student and cannot be a licensed teacher, and cannot be employed or have previously been employed in a teaching position.
Open to an incoming freshman, African-American female student athlete planning to attend Austin Peay State University or Tennessee State University.
Residing in Montgomery County, Tennessee or Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Must be a senior graduating in 2020 from a Clarksville-Montgomery County High School, Fort Campbell High School or Clarksville Private High School.
Minimum 2.75 cumulative Grade Point Average
Must be present at the Scholars Reception program held in early May 2022, in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Essay: In 500 words or less why you should be considered for this scholarship and how does your life parallel to Wilma Rudolph’s life. Discuss your most significant challenge or accomplishment, why it was significant and what did you learn from your experience.
Letter of recommendation.
At least (1) one letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or guidance counselor
Transcript from high school.
Application and materials must be submitted no later than 4:30 pm on March 31, 2022.
